(Lam)Bert van Alebeek is a baker's servant with his father in the bakery at the Kreitenmolenstraat nr 60.

After baking Bert will deliver. Fresh bread is exchanged for old (building) materials and antiques in order to settle outstanding invoices. Bert sells these materials to renowned antique dealers. Gradually Bert sells more to private customers.

Two months after the unexpected death of his father, Bert closes the old bakery.  He continues to buy and sell antiques and building materials.  

1976

The stock grows steadily and 't Achterhuis moves to the large site of contractor Harrie Brekelmans at the Kreitenmolenstraat nr 90.
Behind the new house was the first showroom. The name 't Achterhuis was chosen.  

1986

Frank van Alebeek, already experienced as a teenager at the time, comes to work at 't Achterhuis. The range of products and the number of employees are considerably expanded. 
The showroom was rebuilt.

Also the Kreitenmolenstraat 92 is bought, with the land of the neighbours. Large sheds with workshops were built. 
There is also an extra showroom.

When the construction and renovations were finished, the reopening took place.
Time for a party!

't Achterhuis keeps growing. Another expansion follows. On the "Kreitenmolen" industrial estate, a large warehouse with shipping area is built.

Frank van Alebeek takes over 't Achterhuis from his father Bert van Alebeek. Nowadays, t Achterhuis sells much more than just old building materials. 
In the meantime, it supplies everything in the field of contemporary building and living.

Another extension. This time at the Houtsestraat 119 in Udenhout, for the storage of recovered stones and large garden ornaments.

The Kreitenmolenstraat 83b is purchased.  There used to be a sawmill on this large site. 
In time, 't Achterhuis wants to centre all its activities in the Kreitenmolenstraat.

After a year of building and rebuilding, a lot has changed.  The sheds have been refurbished, a park has been created and in the 125 year old sawmill there is now an exhibition space for an exclusive collection of fireplaces.  Most of the stock has already been transferred here.

't Achterhuis exhibits its large collection of old but contemporary building materials, on no less than 30,000m², in the middle of the village centre of Udenhout. 
The assortment is now larger than ever.

This year the company celebrated it's 50th anniversary.
There are currently 15 passionate and knowledgeable employees working there.
